In Santo Domingo, as in other major cities in the country, there are a few options for temporary accommodation that will depend on your budget, family size and particular needs. It is very rare to find a furnished apartment on short-term rental. Usually contracts extend to a minimum of one year.
Apart-hotels
These are small hotels, which make
a decent option, less expensive and with basic good service. Monthly
costs are of approx. a minimum of US$600 or US$35 per night. Rooms
are furnished with bed(s), a small refrigerator, a chest of drawers,
air conditioner and other facilities depending on the place (night
tables, armoires, dining table, etc.). They have a private bathroom
and some even include a small kitchen with a stove and a balcony.
Pensiones
Usually cheaper than Apart-hotels.
They offer a plain furnished room in a guest house like environment.
Hotels
Can be consired an option for bigger
budgets.
