  Rules   >Roads   Tips

The Dominican Republic has a complex system of roads and street. There are express ways and highways that help transit flow within and outside of Santo Domingo.

Major highways

Duarte Highway: Leading North

6 de Noviembre Expressway: Leading west

Autovia del Este: Leading east

La Autopista de Las Americas: heads to José Francisco Peña Gómez Las Américas International Airport

Main avenues pretty much go across de city. Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Lope de Vega, Máximo Gómez, John F. Kennedy, 27 de Febrero, Bolívar, Independencia and George Washington are some of the most transited.

In order to facilitate traffic flow in the city, there are many one-way streets. Most of them have their signs, which indicate the direction you should follow. However, when in doubt observe parked cars or other vehicles' flow.
